It has been a busy couple of weeks for Newry BID as we continue to lobby and act on your behalf.

Last week you may have seen that we had members featured on BBC highlighting the underspend in the Flood Support budget. It is essential that the remainder of this money goes directly to those businesses across the area, impacted by flooding.

We will continue to push for this to happen. I was in Coleraine with Secretary of State Hilary Benn MP last week also where I raised this issue and the cost of doing business.
I am speaking to the Department of the Economy this afternoon to continue to pursue this.

We also had the Finance Minister John O’Dowd MLA in Newry to meet with member Caoimhe Meehan about the ‘Back in Business’ scheme. As mentioned in last week’s newsletter this scheme has been extended. Please do get in touch if you would like to find out more about it.

We have launched an exciting new campaign to drive footfall for the night-time economy- ‘Newry Goes Nashville’. See below information and if you would like to get involved, please get in touch.
We have also been working with DfI in relation to the road works on Hill Street. We have had the loading bay at John Mitchell Place successfully relocated, as per members requests.
